Library Management Systems
The implementation of a Library Management System can promote resource sharing
throughout a district while helping to extend the classroom to the home.
Davidson Services consultants have worked with K-12 library systems for districts across
the country. The advent of centralized, web based systems is driving school systems to look
at replacing aging distributed library systems to:
Provide easy access to materials from anywhere inside and outside the school district
creating a “Library without walls.”
Offer easily configurable search tools that meet the age specific needs of children in
all grades.
Decrease ongoing maintenance and support costs by eliminating redundant hardware and databases installed
throughout the district.
Reduce cataloging costs by providing both centralized and decentralized cataloging in a controlled method,
available to all users.
Library systems are no longer standalone entities within a district’s application portfolio. Davidson Services can
assist in designing interfaces between the library system and the district’s purchasing system to make ordering of
materials easy for librarians and more cost effective for the district. We can also assist with establishing interfaces
between the library management system and the district’s student information system, to eliminate the need for
duplicate entry of student enrollment changes. Our knowledge of all critical systems within a school district allows
Davidson Services to provide an integrated approach across all applications.
